Clue 1

There is a certain class of enthusiastic Sherlockians who have read the book and are anticipating a visit from the author. We have been communicating in coded messages. I told them I would send a clue as to when my visit might be. Today I passed along Clue #1: a small pumpkin. Any guesses as to what the clue might mean? The game's afoot!
