Last night I was invited to attend a dinner honoring 7 children's authors who came into town for the weekend to their share their books (mainly picture books). It was very exciting to meet them, get some pointers, and learn that I am very much like them. I came away from the dinner very inspired and very informed about writers groups to join, etc. The authors were very supportive of me as a new author. It was refreshing and affirming to learn that they struggle with the same things I do, that they're not these oober-famous people making millions off their books, but that they are struggling to promote their books, find time to write, and juggle writing and other areas of normal life.
I came home last night believing a little more in myself...
