Last Friday I visited two 3rd grade classes and two 4th grade classes at Pine Grove Elementary School. I had a blast sharing about myself as a writer and about Sherlock Academy. Everyone gave me a warm reception and everyone was very enthusiastic about the book. I answered lots of questions, but there were some I didn't get a chance to. So true to my word, here are the answers to some questions I didn't have time to address:
Summer: What do you like to write about?
Me: I love writing about kids having great adventures, usually mysteries
Gabriel: What is the main idea of most of your books?
Me: The main idea of Sherlock Academy is that 'appearances can be deceiving'
Hannah: What is the title of the first book you ever wrote?
Me: I wrote my first story when I was about 8 and it was called "Christine's Adventures"
Sarah: How many schools have you visited?
Me: I've visited 6 schools this year
Kai: Do you get money for the books you write?
Me: I get a little money, but most of it goes right back to publishing more books
Ashlee: How has being an author changed your life?
Me: It's changed my life in a great way! It's helped me grow more confident about my creativity.
Ben: Where do you live?
Me: I live here in Santa Maria, but that's all I'll say. I don't want anyone kidnapping my gnomes! :)
DJ: What is your favorite genre to write?
Me: Children's mysteries, absolutely!
Blayz: Are you writing a book now?
Me: Yes! I'm writing a sequel to Sherlock Academy. Watch for more news!
Tanner: What is your favorite book?
Me: My favorite book of ALL time is Peter Pan
Haley: Do you only write mysteries?
Me: I've written all kinds of stuff, including a sci-fi series. But Sherlock Academy is my only book published.
Rigo: Are all of your books based on real stories?
Me: Sherlock Academy is the only book based on another story (Sherlock Holmes). But the mystery of my book is all from my own imagination.
